Responsible gambling
Last updated 17 October 2026
Our tips are statistical estimates. Even our most confident picks lose sometimes, and every accumulator leg is another chance to lose. Betting should be entertainment, never a way to make money you need.
Keep it safe
- Only stake money you can afford to lose. Never bet with money for rent, school fees, food or debts.
- Set a weekly limit before you start, and stop when you reach it.
- Don't chase losses by betting bigger to win money back.
- Don't bet when you're stressed, angry or have been drinking.
- Use the deposit limits and self-exclusion tools your bookmaker offers.
Warning signs
- Spending more time or money on betting than you meant to.
- Borrowing money or selling things to bet.
- Hiding your betting from family or friends.
- Feeling anxious or low when you're not betting.
Getting help
If betting is causing problems, talk to someone you trust and ask for help early. Gamblers Anonymous runs free support meetings worldwide, including online: gamblersanonymous.org. A doctor or counsellor can also help.
